Nourishing Wild-Weed Infusions: Perfect Addition to Any Spring Detox

An Ode to the beginning of Spring….

I thought you’d be warmer

My flesh is pale, digestion slow

My Bod not ready for summer

Though we are still waiting for the temps to rise here in Maine, Spring is here! I can feel my internal systems ready to crank up the (digestive) heat.

I believe there is no better way to begin supporting our bodily systems then drinking daily nourishing herbal infusions. I can say this with all confidence: Drinking a daily-quart of nourishing herbs has changed every aspect of my life.

Coming from a few decades of restriction “nutrition”, I’ve now shifted the focus to flooding my body with nutrients. And my body, mind and soul have never been happier.

Drinking daily nourishing herbs, most specifically the wild-weeds, calms and grounds our nervous system. Digestive tracts are soothed and repaired to allow for nutrients to be more fully absorbed. The wild-weeds are blood building, gently cleansing to the organs and systems of elimination, and our hair and skin begin to radiate fullness and beauty. You’ll sleep, eat and poop better…. and yes, sex life is improved from every angle.

Have I sold you yet???? Oh, and its likely way less expensive than anything else in your supplement cabinet.

When our bodies are exquisitely nourished, we thrive. As my herbalism teacher, Marysia Miernowska**** says, “When you begin to drink nourishing herbs, everything changes…. Emotionally, nourishing herbs are grounding. Our bodies relax when they are no longer desperate for nutrients and love. As we drink the nourishing herbs, we take in the spirit of wild places and the Body of the Earth. We become more resilient to stress and more compassionate toward ourselves and others.”

Nourishing Herb infusions are teas made from wild weeds that steep overnight. Wild medicinal plants, such as Nettles, Dandelion, Burdock, Red Clover, Red Raspberry Leaf, Oatstraw, Cleavers ~ to name a few ~ are Mother Earth’s superior sources of micronutrients, vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

True, I have totally become a plant pushing evangelist. The evidence in my life, and of those around me can not be denied. Join me, and let me know which wild-weed you’ll be working with for the next 30-days. I’m currently finishing up a cycle with red clover, and I think Nettles (my first love) are calling me back. Please comment with the herb that is most calling you, and share with anyone you’d like to join you on your 30-day quest for vibrance.

Choose a nourishing herb to work with for the next 30-days.

Use your intuition, or google their plant profiles to see which herb is calling out to you. when in doubt, start with nettles. You’ll need to order 1 lb. Here are 2 of my favorites providers: Foster Farm Botanicals and Mountain Rose Herbs

Nourishing Herbs: Nettles, Oatstraw, Burdock root, Linden, dandelion (leaf and/or root), Red Raspberry Leaf, Red Clover (unless on blood thinners), cleavers, and violet.

Directions:

1. Before bed, measure one small handful of herbs into a quart-size jar.

2: Top with boiling water (unless working with nettle, than use cold)

3: Let infuse overnight

4: First thing in the morning, strain (I like using a sprouting lid), drink as much as your called to on an empty stomach. Finish the rest throughout the day
